Synopsis
Whether it be King Kong or The Planet of the Apes, human history of prejudice against other humans is reflected in cinematic apes, as well as our behavior, our emotions, our forms of communication, and our fabricated distinction between human and animal. The Link questions the purpose of this inquiry, whether it is meant to challenge our animalistic similarities and differences, or if the inquiry is a re-manifestation of colonial supremacy over victims of conquest.

This documentary, created in collaboration with the Lealtad-Suzuki Center for Social Justice at Macalester College, is a love letter to Macalester’s Cultural House, and a call to action for its recognition and preservation. The Cultural House has come in many forms since the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s, and no matter the manifestation, it has been a safe haven for BIPOC students. But when the college plans to demolish the building with no plan for a replacement, students and faculty rally together to showcase the love that has been sustained throughout the C-House’s history.
